Why play Paintball?
Paintball is an awesome sport and hobby. Enthusiasts collect gear and test their skills against opponents. It is extremely exciting and has some other benefits:
You can shoot it out with players from all walks of life. The sense of community and camaraderie always keeps it interesting. You could play against some people in one game and with them the next game. After the game you might braai together and tease each other about being sissies.
Some, after a few beers, even take the opportunity to strip down and do really stupid things, like shoot each other at close range on the arse. This might seem like a good idea at the time, but we advise against it. Unless you are filming it, then please send us a link.
People of all ages and backgrounds are treated equally. The ones crying at the end are usually not treated as equally though.
You can bond with friends or family by sharing common experiences. Epic ambushes, assaults or last stands are fun to talk about. If you don’t have a story or laugh at the end, you were probably the guy hiding in the corner.
Airsoft and Paintball are also an opportunity to exercise your leadership skills. Influencing teammates can be useful. So always aim for the guy calling the shots on the opposing team.
You have an opportunity to go out and meet new people. That’s right, take a shower and brush your teeth, there might be babes/studs too!
A great way to test and build teamwork and respect. Until that ambush happens, then it’s every man for himself. Defeat is also an important lesson.
Paintball is a great way to get a full-body workout. The type of movement involved like low walks, crawls, and sprints involve muscles that you don't normally use. For example the muscles used when laughing like a maniac, running and shooting at the same time.
Shooting while under fire is not like shooting at a range or hunting. The pressure and the need to move and stay behind cover make it quite challenging. Don’t worry, you’ll learn quickly, fear is a great motivator and fun is even better. Combine the two and you have the best learning curve ever.
You get a big fat shot of adrenalin and need to learn how to deal with it. This is not like that adrenalin you got the first time you actually managed to hit something with your ketty, this is serious stuff.
Spend some time outside, in the fresh air. Nothing beats the smell of fear and fresh paint in the morning.
You will learn some skills, like how to hide, crawl and cry silently. Laughing is impossible to do silently, so make irresistible jokes if you want to find your opponents. The snorters are the easiest to find.
Basic gun safety and controls are some useful things to know and you will learn them when playing. Minus the risk of messing up big-time.
You will get sharper and more aware of your surroundings. From “oh, what a pretty butterfly” to “OH S#@T, THAT GUY IS FLANKING ME!!!”
Other people’s thoughts and tactics will become clearer to you, once you need to face off against them. Except with women, no-one understands how women think.
Think fast, the paintballs and airsoft pellets fly really fast and you will learn to move intelligently. Moving stupidly hurts more, so you’ll get it quickly.
Your self-esteem and confidence will increase with every annoying idiot you blast with pellets or paintballs. Theirs will increase every time they get you, but don’t worry, you’ll come up with an excuse, everyone always does.
A break from your boring daily life. It’s hard to take a phone call or answer an e-mail with all the screaming and running.
Fun, Action, Adrenalin! If you don’t have fun, you are doing it wrong.
